Founding team story

Founding team story

ReBake brings together a team with years of experience in electric mobility, engineering and building businesses. The relationships go back years, through shared projects and previous companies.

Karl Ytterborn, Founder & CEO of ReBake, started the company after years in electric mobility, including as CMO at CAKE and Flux Motorcycles. Having experienced the industry’s rapid growth and steep falls firsthand, he wanted to put those lessons to work in a new venture, with products that tick the right boxes for what riders want and a business set up to overcome the hurdles that many EV companies with bold ideas struggle to get past.

He founded ReBake together with Nils and Stefan Ytterborn. Nils brought experience in drivetrain engineering and product development, having served as Chief of Drivetrain at CAKE and worked on engineering projects for companies including Tesla and Polestar. Stefan, who founded POC and CAKE, brought decades of experience in building products, brands and businesses. He serves as Chairman and Advisor at ReBake.

One of the connections that helped bring the wider founding team together began with Tesla’s Cyberquad - Nils and Harry Mills first crossed paths while working on its drivetrain. The vehicle they worked on never made it to market, but their working relationship continued.

Harry later came on board as ReBake’s CTO. The founder of Mills Tech, he brings more than fifteen years of experience in electric vehicle manufacturing, with projects involving Tesla, Zero Motorcycles, Voi and Unu Scooters. He and Nils are now putting their shared experience into the Abler.

Svante Holm also joined the team as CCO, bringing an international background in senior sales operations at companies including Apple, Ericsson and Logitech.

Through those relationships, ReBake brought together people who had seen many of the same challenges from different sides of the business. Electric two-wheelers had shown that many loved them, but high production costs, small volumes and complex supply chains made it difficult to reach a wider audience. When the general appetite for EV slowed, those difficulties became harder to overcome. The team’s belief in electric mobility remained.

Together, they looked at the whole business. ReBake became the opportunity to apply those lessons from the beginning, with its new products and a shared ambition to make high-quality electric mobility attractive to more people and make them want to go electric.
