The Story Behind the Abler

The Story Behind the Abler

After a decade of weekday commuting and weekend exploration, testing different bikes and speaking to thousands of riders, the Abler is the vehicle we would choose to use every day ourselves, with the solutions, features and essentials that make getting around easier. High comfort, room for a passenger, proper cargo capability and charging that fits into everyday life.

With the Abler, we started with a blank piece of paper and created, from the ground up, what we have realized is our dream commuter.

Function first

We started with what the bike needed to do. Carry you comfortably to work. Bring someone along. Handle groceries, equipment and the things that rarely fit on a conventional commuter. Be easy to charge and ready to use again the next day.

Those needs shaped the construction. Room for a passenger and cargo areas are part of the standard bike, ready to use without need to buy something extra.

Make it yours

The 42 mm aluminium round-tube frame is central to the Abler’s design. Its shape gives you places to attach cargo solutions and accessories directly, using the tubes to strap or clamp things into place.

Cargo can be carried up front, at the rear, across the frame or on the battery lid. The side rails give you further ways to position and secure what you need to bring.

We wanted riders to have the freedom to use their own racks, mounts and accessories, and build solutions around their own needs. Whether you’re a zip-tie engineer or a skilled builder, the frame is there to be used. Your setup can change as your needs change.

Easy charging

Charging needs to work where you live. The Abler’s batteries can be charged in the bike or removed and charged separately from a standard outlet. You can leave the bike parked and take the battery inside, rather than having to bring the whole vehicle to a charging point.

The battery box has room for two identical, swappable 2.0 kWh batteries. The Abler45 comes with one as standard, while the Abler80 comes with two. With one battery installed, the second slot becomes extra storage.

The batteries sit beneath a lockable lid, keeping them secured while allowing the owner to remove them for charging or swapping.

Built to last

The Abler is over-engineered on purpose. Its frame and components are dimensioned like those found on heavier, faster bikes. That comes from experience of what a vehicle goes through when it is used every day, carrying people and their stuff in real conditions.

The aim is a bike that lasts longer and needs less maintenance. The same thinking goes into the materials, manufacturing methods and components throughout the vehicle.

Battery safety is part of that approach. The Abler uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and a battery management system that monitors temperature inside the pack. Safety and long-term use were part of the battery design from the start.

Two versions of the same idea

The Abler45 is a 50cc-equivalent moped (L1e-B) with a top speed of 45 km/h. The Abler80 is an EU light motorcycle (L3e-A1) capable of speeds above 80 km/h.

Both follow the same idea: a comfortable, practical vehicle that gives you the freedom to carry what you need and make it your own.

Abler by name. Enabled by design.
